Winter Wonderland.. loving it!

Our Back Yard
I love this winter weather we are having... looks like Christmas outside!! We got a lot of snow this past Tuesday night so soon as I took Brev to the bus stop.. I hurried home and got the twins all dressed up to go outside and have some fun in the snow!  They tried to ride their bikes but that didn't work... Alex was a little timid about the snow... he walked around in it but would fall and would not get up.. he didn't want to touch the snow.. eventhough he had gloves on... it was so cute.  So after some time of walking him around and picking him up after he would fall.. Ian was about 5 feet infront of me.. I was focused on Alex at the moment.. getting him to get up and wiping snow off his gloves and when I looked to see what Ian was doing.. he had his hat off.. his gloves off.. his coat zipped half way down and his boots were off and he was walking through the front yard with only socks on laughing! Oh boy..only Ian!! He was so mad when I took him into the house... so our whole experience of the winter snow only lasted about 1/2 hour.... I got some good pictures though!!
The snow was so heavy that it split our bush in half!

Proud Moment!

I have to say.. I was SO excited to marry a man that was into sports.. for me.. that is very "manly".  Mike loves football.. he played in Highschool and is a HUGE michigan fan.  I have grown to LOVE football - more so now that Brevin is officially a football player! Well... now my husband is into hunting... thankfully still very much a sports man but now he has grown to really enjoy hunting and he really enjoys hunting with my dad and his friends.

This past weekend (Thanksgiving weekend).. Mike and my Dad went up to the Annual VanderKolk hunting weekend upnorth... hunting at my cousins tree farm.  I was SO surprised to see my mom get a call from my dad saying that Mike got one! I immediately got my phone and saw a text from Mike saying that he got one... I called him right away and he said he got a 4 point buck... his FIRST deer ever!! I was literally in tears.. I was so proud of him!! Even more proud that he shot the deer perfectly and it didn't run far at all... they found the deer right away!!  I loved hearing the excitment in his voice - such a proud moment!!  Then to top it off.. Michigan won to Ohio State that same day... I will have to say that Mike was probably having the best day ever... he is thankfully still very much my manly man!!

Ian

Trying to play catch-up with my blog... LOTS going on lately! Never a dull moment in the Weller household :)

On Monday, November 7.. Ian had tubes put in his ears.. after many ear infections we decided this would be the best for him.. just like with Alex.  We were told to be in Ann Arbor, Mott's Children's Hospital at 6:30am.  We had to wake Ian up at 5:40am and he actually did quite well with this!! We got to the hospital just before 6:30am.  They have a great waiting room filled with toys so Ian was busy playing.. not having a care in the world that he couldn't have anything to eat or drink.  We only stayed in the waiting room for a very short time and we were called back to the surgery prep area.  There they did all of Ian's vitals which he hated all of it.. they brought in bubbles and toys and even this HUGE machine that had a mirror and lots of blinking lights and some floating balls in the center.. Ian loved it... I must say it was pretty cool!!  He didn't like the nurse putting the hospital bracelet on his leg - he just didn't want to be bothered with at all.  They had a TV in the room with cartoons on so that helped a lot to!  Then they gave him some happy juice (meds) to help him calm down - that is wonderful stuff.  Then the nurse came in with a wagon - we tried putting Ian in there to be wheeled away but he was trying to get out of it so the wonderful nurse took Ian in her arms and carried him away.  Then another nurse came in and took Mike and I to the waiting room... by the time we got into the elevator and walked down the hall to the waiting room.. we checked in... I made a few phone calls and then looked at our case number on the screen and Ian was already in the recovery room.. I can't believe how fast this procedure is!! In no time the Dr. came in and told us everything went well - gave us a few instructions and we were told that we would be called when Ian wakes up.  We only waiting a few more minutes and the nurse walked us back to the recovery room.. there we found Ian throwing a FIT!! He woke up so angry.. he was trying to rip the IV out of his hand and the nurse was holding him with his arm behind her.. I took him right away and they took us to another room to sit with him.. they turned off the lights and put Mickey Mouse on the TV.. it took a while to calm Ian down.. he was growling he was so mad.. finally they took the IV out and that helped a little bit but he was just so angry.... he finally took a few sips of water and was calm enough for us to take him home... we left for home around 9am and he fell in and out of sleep the whole way home.

He is doing great now.. you would never know he had this procedure!! Now to keep him from dunking his head under water at bath time.. his favorite thing to do.. this will be a challenge!!  :)

Trying to figure out the tv remote.. waiting to have the procedure

The cool colorful machine!

The cute gown.. wish they made them in blue for boys!!

The amazing nurse that took Ian away to surgery

In recovery room... not happy with waking up!

Halloween

After many days of a fever virus...Brevin was finally feeling better - he had to miss his Halloween party at school but was able to go out and trick-or-treat with his best buds!! He was so excited!!

Ian and Alex went also... our good friends brought over their golf cart... we thought it would be fun to drive that around... so my friend was driving and the second I got on.. Ian would throw a fit and start crying... soon as I got off the golf cart.. he was fine... I kept trying to sneak back on but he was always watching me and was not happy... so we ended up taking the golf cart back to our house and we all walked. Ian and Alex were in the wagon but after some time they wanted to walk to! Ian even walked up to a few homes and would take a piece of candy out of a bowl but then would throw it back and scream out of excitment.. it was cute. Brevin made out well - WAY too much candy that I am trying not to dig in to!! Here are some pics from the night

Broken...

On Saturday, October 15... Brevin broke is arm at his Football game against Hartland.  What a day!! Here is what happened.

My parents were in town visiting for the weekend (SO Thankful for that)! Mike and my Dad had plans to hunt the whole weekend and I was just planning to hang out with my Mom.  Brevin had a game on Saturday and it was cold and windy so my mom decided to stay home with the twins and I went to the game.. Mike and my Dad went also for the first half and then were leaving to go hunting and I was going to finish out the game and take Brev home.  Usually we have 9am games but this game was at 4pm and I really think the kids hard a hard time with that time.  Kids were tired and there was a lot of tears during the game... Brevin was having a hard time and was teary almost the whole time plus he was in the game the whole time which I don't think help him emotionally.. he was tired.

My Dad and Mike had left around half time.  It was towards the end of the 4th quarter - Brevin took a hand off (had the footbal) and was tackled hard! He was sobbing - the coach told him to go off the field.. I was walking towards him and I remember a parent saying that they think he got hurt.. my reaction was he didn't get hurt... he was just tired and done!  When I got to Brevin we were sitting on the side line and I was trying to calm him down - he was holding his arm and he said it hurt.  Another parent who was a nurse came and helped me calm Brevin down.. she asked him if she could help him take his glove off and pull up his sweatshirt to take a look at his arm.  This took a while to do because he was crying so hard.  Soon as we got his sweatshirt pulled up I could see right away that his arm didn't look right... the other Mom just looked at me and i knew right away that it wasn't good.. she told me to take him in.  there was a paramedic on hand at the game and someone got them to look at Brevin... when they saw his arm they ran back to the ambulance and got a splint to put his arm in and told me to take him to the hospital... Brev heard this and was hysterical again - so scared! We got him calmed down again and one of the coach's and another parent dad carried Brev to the car.  One of the mom's grabbed my keys and got my car and pulled it up.  We got Brev in and she ended up taking us to the ER.. the paramedic told the other parents not to let me drive so a mom stepped up and drove us... I tried telling her I could do it but she wasn't having any part of that.. she told me to get in the back with Brevin.. which I am so glad I did!

When we got there.. one of the assistant coaches was already there waiting for us.. he works in the ER and he helped Brev get in.  They immediately took an X-ray and you could see the 2 breaks in his bones... then they told me that they had to re-set his arm - they needed to give him a shot to make him sleepy so they could do this.  I was scared for Brevin because I knew this wasn't going to be easy and he is scared to death of shots!! Once we got him into a room it took me and Mike... the Dr. and a nurse to hold him down to give him the shot.. he was screaming and kicking and thankfully the nurse was really quick to give him the shot in the thigh.  It took a while for the meds to start working.. they kept asking him to count to 10 and he would do it and they ask them if he needed to do it again.. after what seemed like forever.. he started getting sleepy and goofy!! He said he felt like he was floating on clouds.  When it was time to re-set his arm.. I had to leave.. the nurse assured me that Brevin had no clue what was going on and that he would even know if I was there or not... I had to leave and when I did I just lost it in the hallway.. Mike was with me and took me to the waiting room to sit.

After about 10 minutes they were done and we went back in to be with Brev.  He was SO goofty.. kept looking out of one eye and kept repeating "What The"... he felt strange I could tell... it took quite a while for him to come out of that.. we had Nascar on TV for him.  When we were finally thinking of leaving.. he started getting sick so the nurse gave him some meds to help with that so we had to stay for anothr 1/2 hour.  When that past.. we got him in a wheel chair to head to the car and soon as we started moving.. he got sick again so we went back to the room and they gave him more meds so we had to wait for a while again.

This whole time the assistant coach stayed with us and answered ALL our questions... that was the best!!  Finally he was doing much better and we headed for home.  We are so thankful that my parents were in town... we never had to worry about the twins!!  Brevin got a cast put on that following Monday, Oct 17 and he is doing great! He got Blue and Gold colors for Michigan so he is very happy about that and he loves having everyone sign his cast! He is such a trooper!!

In the car.. on our way to ER

Feeling the meds! Just waiting for the meds to wear off

Ian and Alex... 2 years!!

IAN

ALEX

Here is where the twins are at at 2 years old!!

Ian - he is now just shy of 33 pounds!! He is 37 ¼ inches tall and still full and I mean FULL of energy! He Loves when I read books to him… he now points to objects when I ask him where they are. He is just starting to talk!! He says: Duck, Apple (his favorite word), shoes, all done, momma, dada, Blue, Ball, Bear, Car and my favorite… choo choo train which sounds like Chee Chee Chee… and I know there is more but this is a huge start - for the longest time he would not say any words and now he is finally starting! He does have his own language and jabbers all the time - he is very talkative… we just don’t know half the time what he is saying. He will read books to himself and will use the same expressions that I use when I read… it really is fun to watch!! He is starting to know his letters and numbers also.

Ian loves to run and loves to run away from you when you need him!! Especially at naps and bedtime… you tell him it’s nite nite time and he runs away from you crying - he still hates going to bed and will always put up a fight!

He loves to play outside and he tests us by trying to go into the neighbors yard or running down our path.. He knows this is a no no but he looks at us with a smile and sees what he can get away with! When we catch up with him and try to redirect him.. He goes limp and throws a fit.. He is strong which makes it hard to get him back where we need him. He also throws fits when we change his diaper - he will pick up any toy that is near him and throw it at us out of anger.

Ian is a very happy boy.. He smiles a lot and loves to be around other kids. He loves to imitate Brevin with whatever he does - especially when Brev plays football… Ian tries to play football to.

Ian is a crazy boy at bath time… he loves to use the side of the tub as a slide and will slide onto his butt getting everything wet and making Alex mad. He loves to lay on his back and put his head in the water - loves to throw toys out of the tub… Bath time is work!!

Ian is a picky eater - can’t believe he is bigger than his brother because he is so much more picky!! He loves carrots, apple, strawberries and raspberries, banana, oatmeal and yogurt. He likes hot dogs but isn’t a big meat eater - he loves milk so for the protein.. I let him have as much as he wants. He doesn’t like juice which is fine with me… he loves to drink water.

Alex… he is 28 pounds and 36 ¼ inches tall. He is more aware of what is going on around him and more timid. He loves to be held and would love it if I held him all day long!! He loves to go to bed - he will grab his binky and blankie and stand by him crib when it is nap or bedtime - he never puts up a fight. Alex talks more than Ian… he knows his alphabet - we have letter magnets on our fridge and after mixing them all up.. I will ask him where a certain letter is and he will find it. A few days ago Mike asked Alex where the letter “W” was.. He couldn’t find it so he took the letter M and turned it upside down and pointed to it. He also know his numbers up to 10. Just last night at work - Alex was with me and on my shirt it says “STAFF”…. Alex pointed to the letters on my shirt and said each letter out loud while pointing to them… he loves letters! He also knows his colors… when I point to a yellow object and ask him what color it is.. He will say Whoa Whoa which is Yellow.. Boo is Blue and een is green and ed is Red…. So cute!

Alex is much more layed back - if I go grocery shopping I will take Alex with me and leave Ian home with Mike.. Alex will sit nice in the cart and is so patient… he now will look for letters all over the store and start saying them - I love it!

The twins are so much fun - I love watching them learn new things everyday - it is bittersweet with how much they are growing - it is going by fast but we are loving every minute of it!!
